Come join Mid City Zen on December 31st New Year's Eve meditation and ringing of 108 Bells.
Doors at 7:15pm, Zazen (meditation) at 7:30pm, Bells at 8:45pm, Fire pit after! 🔥
All our welcome 🙏🏽
Feel free to come and go as you please. Each ringing of the bell is accompanied by a full prostration. However, standing bows or seated bows are a great alternative. As well as just sitting or lying down!

Current Schedule

Sunday Morning Program (every week but first Sunday)
  • Sunday service and zazen

    • 8:45-9:25am:  Introduction and Zazen Instruction (offered only second and fourth Sunday of the month.)

    • 9:30am Robe Chant immediately followed by the bells for zazen

    • 9:30-10:00am Zazen

    • 10:00-10:10am Kinhin (walking meditation) 

    • 10:10-10:40am Zazen

    • 10:45am Chanting Service

    • 11am - 11:30am  Dharma talks, Way Seeking Mind talks, Board Meeting, Study Group or Community Gathering

    • 11:45am - 11:55am Soji (mindful cleaning)

  • First Sundays of the month are half day sittings, schedule is below (see more info and links at the Virtual Zendo):

    • 7:50am start han, call to sitting

    • 8:00-8:40 zazen. 

    • 10 minutes kinhin (walking meditation). 

    • 8:50-9:20 zazen. 

    • 10 minutes kinhin. 

    • 9:30-10 zazen. 

    • 10 minutes kinhin. 

    • 10:10-10:40 zazen

    • 10 minutes of kinhin. 

    • 10:50-11:20 zazen. 

    • 10 minutes kinhin. 

    • 11:30-45 zazen.

    • 11:45 close with refuge prayer

Please be in your seat before 6:28pm. You can attend in person, or via Zoom. If joining online, click the link a few minutes early and sit together (the han wooden bell starts at 6:20pm). The doan will ring 3 bells to begin and 1 to end. We will close with the refuge prayer (see the weekday chant card)

Wednesday Mornings:
8am - 8:35am Zazen

Ceasefire Sits, Friday Mornings:

8am - 8:30 Zazen

8:30 - 8:35 Loving Kindness Chant

Support and join us in our commitment to non-violence in ourselves and the world.  We will sit zazen (meditation) and practice loving kindness, dedicated to a lasting ceasefire in Palestine/Israel. All are welcome.

Sober Zen:

First and Third Thursday of the Month 7:15 - 8:15pm

Sober Zen is a discussion group about sobriety, meditation, and mindfulness and how they can support each other. All are welcome. No meditation experience is necessary.
